“What jobs will thrive in the AI-first future”?

Our take is that thriving in an AI-first future is less about picking the right job and more about having the right mindset.

Sure, some jobs will and are booming through the world’s rapid AI adoption – 

• Data science and engineering

• AI consulting and product management

• Automation and operations

• … To name a few

But in our experience, there’s folks crushing it using AI in nearly every profession – from copywriting and branding to legal and immigration.

The reality is that AI doesn’t replace jobs; it scales those that are best at them. Look behind every “AI Legal Startup” and you’ll find a team of fantastic lawyers. Behind every “AI Marketing Startup”, a team of fantastic marketers…

To compete in the AI-first future, it’s less about what JOB you have. Instead, we think a bigger predictor of future success if your MINDSET.

Here are the 4 mindsets if you want to thrive in an AI-first future:

• Valuing your impact, not your hours

• Assume you have the skills to solve the problem

• Be resourceful

• Specialize and dig in deep

Mindset #1: Valuing your impact, not your hours

Working hard is important. It gets you the experience you need in order to learn and become an expert at something.

But once you’ve learned the thing, the path to scaling your impact without scaling your hours is significantly clearer thanks to AI. 

So when deciding what to work on, it’s increasingly important to find where you can drive the most value.

Mindset #2: Assume you have the skills to solve the problem

Have you tried to learn something new from ChatGPT yet? If not, you should.

You’ll be shocked to see how AI cuts the time to learn a new skill down to a fraction or even a fraction of a fraction of what it took before. Between the explosion of content online and the accessibility that AI brings– it’s really never been easier to learn a new skill and solve a problem yourself.

Mindset #3: Be resourceful

If you’re resourceful, AI is the ultimate resource.

Thanks to AI, the only thing holding you back from your dreams is probably just you. People are launching software companies without having ever coded before. What could AI be helping you accomplish?

Mindset #4: Specialize and dig in deep

We talk about the rising value of expertise, as AI commoditizes average.

By design, AI will generate the average of human intelligence on any task. And so while being a generalist may get easier – all the sudden you’re average at everything with little to no effort! That’ll also be the case for everyone else.

We expect a rise in the specialist. Plan accordingly.
