TODAY'S PERSPECTIVE
Did the world change on Tuesday? Well, maybe.
GPT-4 was announced and demo’d on Tuesday. If you missed the demo, here’s the recording.
Here’s the key things you need to know about what was unveiled:
GPT-4 is smarter than the models we’ve had before, including ChatGPT. It scored in the 90th percentile of the uniform bar exam (for lawyers), compared to ChatGPT which scored in the 10th. And the 99th percentile for the biology olympiad, compared to ChatGPT in the 31st. Specifically, it is showing major improvements in complex reasoning and math.
GPT-4 can take in both text and image inputs. One of the most mind-blowing demos was Open AI co-founder taking a picture of a napkin sketch of a web app, and GPT-4 turning that into functioning code for a website.
GPT-4 can handle longer context windows. Out of the box, we’ll be able to send about 2x as much information, and you could send up to 50 pages of text in their higher tier plan.
What could this mean for using AI at work?
The larger context window is immediately useful - we’ve all tried sending long transcripts and asking for summaries, to be cut off to our dismay.
But the bigger wow 😮 here is the ability to add images.
To name a few potential use cases:
Uploading images for social media posts and auto-generating captions
Developing a visual narrative of a viral video and giving steps to recreate it for a new topic
A super scraper, which could write a cold outreach email simply from a screenshot of a LinkedIn profile, Instagram page, or website
Auto-generate bug reports simply from a screenshot
Image to speech for anything to improve accessibility
Take a picture of items in your closet, and get recommendations of complimentary items to purchase
Generate the code for any website, simply from a screenshot
Improve the conversion rate of a landing page by asking GPT to rewrite the copy for your target audience
Read a process diagram and suggest improvements
Suggest key takeaways or points from graphs for management
Brainstorm anything, simply from a photo of a mindmap
Analyze a photo of a golf swing and suggest recommendations
🤯 yeah things are about to get crazy
So, how do you get started?
ChatGPT Plus users already have access, and API access is rolling out gradually so get on the waitlist. The ability to add images appears to be being rolled out with select partners first.

USE CASE DEEP DIVE
Simplify your life with AI calendar management
We all know how hard it can be to keep track of our lives - especially when it comes to our calendars. As someone who works hard to create communities, produce events, and design instructional content, Melissa Emler, Chief Learning Officer at Modern Learners, knew that if she wanted to stay on top of her calendar she needed a better way to manage her time blocks, projects, and tasks.
That’s when she discovered Motion Calendar – and it’s changed the way she approaches managing her work day.
Motion Calendar is a powerful AI-enabled calendar tool that helps you set up your time blocks, projects, and tasks to include deadlines and time allotment. It then automatically adds items to your calendar so that you will be able to meet the project deadlines you set and warns you when you won’t be able to meet a deadline within the constraints you set.
Plus, it has a great scheduling tool that highlights your preferred times when people are selecting times for meetings.
With Motion Calendar, Melissa is able to manage her calendar in a fraction of the time and move projects forward faster without feeling completely out of control.
