Let’s get to it! 👇

TODAY'S PERSPECTIVE

Shopify announced Sidekick, your e-commerce assistant

We got more than just another chat-like assistant this week. We got a glimpse of the future.

Ok a little cheesy, but it's what Shopify CEO and Founder said in his demo and we're going to break down why we agree.

Shopify announced Sidekick, the chat-like assistant coming to Shopify. He described it as the mentor and the team that every entrepreneur desperately needs.

From the demo, looks like it will be able to:

  • Generate sales reports

  • Edit your e-commerce website design

  • Rewrite campaign copy

  • And a lot more

All from this simple little Sidekick assistant.

Shopify’s new Sidekick demo

But there's something quite interesting about Shopify's Sidekick -

Unlike most chatbots being launched, this is not customer-facing. It's for the business. And to serve almost as a cleaner, simpler, easier interface to the software Shopify provides.

We've spent some time in e-commerce. There is an absurd volume of small tasks and to-dos required to run even the simplest e-commerce store.

But now, you'll just have to describe the task, review, and it's done.

Yeah.

Why should you care?

Consider the future of work and business - a world where people can describe what they want, decide how they want it done, and delegate tasks with extreme efficiency.

If you're not on the 'delegate to AI' train yet. Go check out Shopify's video. It might change your mind.

USE CASE

Analyze company financial statements with Code Interpreter

This week’s big ChatGPT reveal was that all ChatGPT Plus Subscribers now have access to Code Interpreter. There’s lots of very cool and useful things you can do with it. But one way to get smarter is to spend time analyzing company statements

🤓 nerdy… we know

But seriously, you can now:

  1. Download a company like Apple’s recent 10K filings

  2. Ask Code Interpreter to extract the table you’re interested in from the PDF

  3. Ask it to plot, chart or do any further analysis on it

Public financial data is usually too dense or too long to learn anything from unless you want to spend hours.

But now what we just described can be done in minutes.

And if you’re really nerdy…

  • OpenAI and Shutterstock have a deal that will allow DALL-E to train on Shutterstock for 6 more years. Very interesting for the training data and copyright debates especially plaguing AI image generation models

  • Google launched their AI-powered Notebook called NotebookLM, as they continue experimenting with how they want to bring more AI into their current products (and the launch was pretty quiet… interesting)

That's all!
