ChatGPT iOS got an upgrade - it will now search with Bing

Most people don't know that ChatGPT can access the internet.

You need to have a Plus account, and you need to enable it by going to Settings > Beta Features and turn on “Browse With Bing”.

Why is this feature useful?

Let’s break it down.

#1 More accurate

When you let ChatGPT search the internet for you, it improves its ability to answer correctly. Instead of relying on the model’s understanding of a topic from the massive amount of information it was trained on, it can find the best outside sources of information via a search, and use those to inform its answer.

#2 You can fact check

When you use Browsing, ChatGPT will show you which websites it used to inform its response. This is helpful because you can go fact-check its answers.

#3 Up to date

Normally, ChatGPT doesn’t know anything beyond its knowledge cutoff of September 2021.

But when you use Browsing, it can leverage the up-to-date information on the internet and actually give you answers about current events, the weather and more.

#4 Use on your own data

Probably the most exciting - since ChatGPT with Browsing can look things up on the internet - you can ask it questions about your website, your customers websites, and even your competitors.

How to get access?

1. You must be a ChatGPT Plus subscriber

2. Go to Settings > Beta Features and turn on “Browse With Bing”.

3. Download the iOS app for ChatGPT
