AI Ops = a team sport. What’s your position?
Last time we were in your inbox, we explained why we’re doubling down on the “ops” side of AI.
What we’ve also learned matters: getting AI to actually work requires having the right people in the right roles.
We now think of AI Operations as a team sport
Everyone online touts the “AI automation engineer” as being the job of the decade. We agree - they’re awesome. But they’re not the only part.
We’ve found that when AI implementation is successful, it isn’t necessarily the result of one heroic individual saving the day.
Our most successful AI projects have had one thing in common: it’s been a team effort – people are wearing different hats, all leaning in, utilizing their different strengths.
While the exact titles vary from company to company, these are the three roles that we’re seeing emerge:
The AI Visionary – This is the person responsible for setting the strategy and deciding what should be worked on.
The AI Implementor – This is the technical person responsible for building the AI-powered workflows.
The AI Operator – This is the person who transforms business workflows into scalable, AI-ready playbooks and guides the systematic rollout of AI across teams.
What we’ve learned: getting these roles solidified helps AI ops actually grow across the organization so much faster.
We’ll be talking a lot more about these roles – but in case you’re itching to dig in: Rachel sat down with Tiago Forte a couple weeks ago to dive deep into these roles, a framework they can use to AI-ify processes and how they can reimagine work without time constraints. It’s about an hour long, but definitely worth a listen — check it out here!

What people have been saying about it:
